This is a 9 month contract with the potential to convert to full time at the end of the term.

Based in Toronto, Burson is seeking a Senior Client Financial Analyst to play a critical role on the Finance team supporting the continued growth and the financial management of the business. You will work closely with multiple stakeholders including WPP shared services and client teams for budget and contract management. You will also collaborate with the internal finance team for all client financial reporting and revenue assurance.

This is an opportunity to join a seasoned team of financial practitioners as we prioritize this newly created function. Agency experience is highly desired with a keen understanding of internal controls and SOX.

This is a hybrid role, requiring at least 3 days in office per week.

What you'll do:

  • Act as finance partner to our account teams.
  • Ensure SOX compliance with monthly financial reporting.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable aging and collections.
  • Liaise and advise client teams on commercial matters such as issues related to billings, budgets, accounts payable, expenses. Identify risks to client financial health and work with client teams to resolve
  • Review and redline client and vendor scopes of work (SOWs), amendments, MSAs, addendums for new and existing clients.
  • Track and record contracts including each client’s contractual obligations, pricing models, rebates/discounts, term/duration, etc. Share upcoming contractual terms, amendments, etc. with the client and legal teams.
  • Lead client team in review of project pricing and budget as required, perform contribution margin assessment prior to project execution.
  • Revenue recognition tracking/recording during month-end in accordance with each clients’ contractual pricing models inclusive of any rebates, discounts or incentives and in compliance with IFRS standards.
  • Partner with client leaders and executives during budget and quarterly reforecasts to develop new revenue forecasts based upon the client’s annual budget.
  • Assist client teams with staff plans for scope of works and regularly review client contributions and potential over-servicing
  • Prepare insightful, actionable, and accurate financial reporting/analysis to key business owners in the organization.
  • Along with other key finance leaders, support finance transformation as to systems and processes for financial close and reporting.
  • Help ensure timesheets are completed timely and accurately to the right job codes
  • Special projects as required.

Experience that contributes to success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration.
  • 5-7 years experience in an agency or other billable professional services organizations is highly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, organization skills and detail oriented.
  • Full understanding of accounting concepts and principles.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and SOX.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and experience with Oracle, Hyperion, SAP or Netsuite (similar to our proprietary systems of Maconomy and Cartesis).
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills with a flexible interpersonal style to clearly present ideas both verbally and in writing.
  • Roll up your sleeves team attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and/or part of a team to complete multiple projects on time.
