Position Responsibilities:

  • Plan and ensure successful, timely, and accurate completion of assigned jobs. Insure contract adherence.  Maintain and promote the highest professional standards.  Ensure customer confidence in Davis-Standard’s capabilities and enhance Davis-Standard’s credibility with our customers and leadership position in the marketplace.
  • Create drawings and generate BOM’s (Bill of Materials) on our computer-based platforms.
  • Create PLC programs using IEC 61311 languages ladder diagram, function block diagrams, and/or structured text for use in controls related to the polymer extrusion industry.
  • Design and review control system network architecture.
  • Design and develop HMI applications.
  • Conform to appropriate ISO 9000 quality system procedures and practices. Adopt and practice the concept of continuous improvement.  Participate in the enhancement and growth of the Davis-Standard ISO 9000 system.  Participate in the enhancement and growth of the EDR/EDS system.
  • Support the test and field service departments as needed to help meet timeline requirements for shipments and commissioning of equipment.
  • Attend job kickoff meetings, engineering review meetings, and customer meetings as needed.
  • Occasional travel (up to 10%) for customer visits, vendor meetings, and start-up/commissioning as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controls and Electrical Engineering Manager.

Position Requirements:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar related 4-yr degree.
  • 5-10 years of controls and electrical systems design experience with industrial automation or automated machinery preferred.
  • Control System design including electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, BOMs, test plans, manuals, etc.
  • Extensive experience with variable frequency drives (VFD’s), Yaskawa and Allen Bradley Powerflex preferred.
  • Extensive programming knowledge of Rockwell and Siemens PLC’s required.
  • Extensive HMI programming experience using applications including Rockwell FTView ME/SE or GE Proficy iFix.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and their requirements.
  • Strong understanding of and working familiarity with industrial controls networking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player, ability to work well with others.
  • Strong technical aptitude and good analytical skills; organized and detail oriented.
  • Self-starter, willing to work-through and seek answers to ongoing new requirements.
  • Effective communicator using written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the Office 365 suite of applications, emphasis on Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with NFPA-79 and UL508A standards.
