About the Position

The East Tennessee Logistics Coordinator is part of the New Build & Disaster Recovery Division, reporting to the East Tennessee Regional Director. They support and facilitate overall programmatic operations as part of the THRIVE (Transforming Homes and Rebuilding in Vulnerable Environments) Program in East Tennessee communities.

 

This is a full-time, exempt position based in Johnson City, TN. Irregular hours may be required. This role requires extensive travel between multiple construction sites, communities, and counties in East Tennessee, as well as other locations across ASP’s service area. 

 

Job Responsibilities

Construction Management

  • Assist in scheduling and securing all pre-construction certificates and requirements (surveys, site plans, elevation certificates, building plans, etc.).
  • Assist in planning and executing the overall schedule of construction projects and timelines.
  • Monitor projects to ensure:
    • All construction work complies with applicable codes and ASP quality standards;
    • A safe working environment and practices on site;
    • Materials are ordered and delivered to worksites in a timely manner;
    • Proper inventory control and responsible allocation of all tools, resources, equipment, and materials. 
  • Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, vendors, volunteers, and others on timelines, deadlines, concerns, and material needs for each house.
  • Manage subcontractors and their work, verifying that the full scope of contracted work is completed satisfactorily before payment for work is released.
  • Coordinate inspections on all projects.
  • Assist with project paperwork, pictures, and records.
  • Support local Summer Repair Program efforts.

Volunteer Management

  • Partner with the Volunteer Department and other staff to coordinate volunteer experiences.
  • Complete and submit volunteer group information reports.
  • Manage volunteers while on site, teaching basic skills while ensuring quality, safety, and stewardship of volunteers and ASP resources.

Budget Management

  • Review weekly financial management reports for accuracy and budget adherence.
  • Assist in budgeting and coding receipts and invoices as requested.

Curriculum and Trainings

  • Participate in developing and delivering community trainings for long term disaster recovery and residential rebuild

Administrative

  • Update East Tennessee THRIVE Program procedure manuals as needed.
  • Seek applicable training opportunities to enhance skill and knowledge.
  • Prepare for and participate in ongoing evaluation processes.
  • Coordinate with other departments and aspects of ASP’s mission, as needed.
  • Adhere to organizational and departmental core values, expectations, guiding principles, mission, vision, and budget guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Candidate Description

Required:

  • Willingness to work in a Christian environment.
  • Basic knowledge of construction materials and equipment
  • Understanding of construction management processes
  • Able to multitask with a strong understanding of core manager duties
  • Able to work autonomously and self sufficiently
  • Able to learn quickly and initiate the learning process
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities, including negotiation skills
  • Highly organized, ability to plan, attention to detail and ability to work well in a team
  • Conflict resolution and conflict management experience
  • Excellent time management ability

Desired:

  • Experience hauling trailers and operating small equipment such as a skid steer.
  • 1 year of experience in construction management or similar role

Other Requirements: 

  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that is acceptable to ASP’s insurer.  
  • Ability to lift items (boxes, materials, etc.) weighing up to 100 pounds.  
  • Satisfactory results on a thorough background check.
