The Warehouse Manager (internally referred to as Depot Manager), who directly reports to the Director, Logistics and Distribution, manages cost efficient, cost effective and customer focused distribution, warehouse, and dispatch services that support merchandise movement, inventory control, and profitable store operations.  The role is accountable for overseeing all Florida based warehouse functions including those managed and supported by third party logistics providers.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Develop and lead a depot team that will develop and execute concepts, business models, and partners to ensure products and goods are delivered to the markets
  • Manage depot operations in a safe, store centric, cost effective and efficient manner
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory health and safety rules
  • Oversee the receiving, counting, and segregation of goods based on temperature, product type, HAZMAT classification, carrier specifications, and store requirements for dry and refrigerated warehouse products
  • Inventory is managed to provide for optimum selling condition at stores
  • Shrink is effectively controlled through management processes that address loss of product by damage, deterioration, mishandling, code dating, and other possible causes
  • Identification and implementation of process improvements that have a positive effect on operational efficiencies, cost containment, or service levels
  • Utilize performance metrics that steer the operation for maximum effectiveness
  • Continuously review and analyze processes, looking for improvement opportunities; communicate and implement (as appropriate) new processes
  • Ensure all packaging, labeling, and routing is done as prescribed by all regulations to eliminate penalties and delays to ensure cost effectiveness is maintained
  • Ensure that adequate equipment, supplies, and personnel are available to perform the functions of the distribution centers

Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Mandatory 5 years previous grocery and general warehouse management experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing subordinates
  • Must be proficient with exporting rules mandated by Customs and Border Protection
  • Must be proficient with different types of containers used in ocean shipping and cube/weight capacity
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be able to operate hand-trucks, pallet jacks, standard safety equipment, and office equipment
  • Ability to operate a forklift is an asset
  • Experience with managing depot/warehouse financial statements (operating statements/P&L statements)
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Experience building an increasingly capable team
  • Previous grocery and general warehouse management experience working with an export focus preferred
  • Experience managing multiple facilities simultaneously preferred
  • Experience with managing depot functions while operating with third party logistics personnel/facilities
  • Ability to work in temperatures ranging from 90°F or warmer to -20°F
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
