Job Description:
Meade Engineering is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead efforts in expanding our market presence, cultivating strong client relationships, and driving strategic growth opportunities. This role is critical to the firm's success, serving as a connector between our engineering expertise and new business prospects across the data center and construction sectors.
The ideal candidate is a proactive and persuasive professional who thrives in a technical, solutions-oriented environment. You'll identify high-impact opportunities, build partnerships with new and existing clients, and collaborate across teams to develop tailored proposals that position Meade Engineering as the partner of choice.
Job Duties:
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities in target markets, including data centers, commercial construction, and infrastructure projects.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified leads through market research, networking, referrals, and industry events.
- Execute and coordinate business development call programs; document outreach efforts, analyze results, and report outcomes to leadership.
- Initiate and nurture relationships with prospective clients, consultants, and industry stakeholders to position Meade Engineering for long-term partnerships.
- Discuss customer needs, challenges, and business goals to identify alignment with Meade Engineering's services and arrange meetings with appropriate internal teams.
- Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and leadership teams to develop customized proposals, presentations, and pitch materials.
- Lead and manage the proposal process, ensuring timely submissions that align with client goals and company capabilities.
- Track industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging markets to inform strategic planning and identify growth areas.
- Compile and analyze data and business development performance metrics to make informed recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Support contract negotiations and close deals in partnership with internal finance teams.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and networking events to elevate brand visibility and foster connections.
- Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, and client interactions using CRM tools.
- Contribute to the refinement of Meade Engineering's go-to-market strategy through feedback and insight gathered in the field.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client relationship management, preferably in the engineering, construction, or technology sectors.
- Proven track record of identifying, developing, and closing complex business opportunities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with technical and executive-level stakeholders.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce).
- Ability to synthesize technical concepts and translate them into clear, compelling value propositions.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with a passion for building lasting partnerships and driving growth.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with engineering or construction firms or selling technical services.
- Familiarity with proposal development, pricing strategies, and contract negotiation.
- Comfortable speaking at industry events and delivering client-facing presentations.
- Knowledge of project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello) and marketing automation platforms.
